How to prepare for high goals

Tia Hellebaut won a gold medal in the high jump in 2008 during the Olympic Games in Peking. She jumped over a height of 2,05m by her first attempt. At the beginning of her career she was a pentathlete, but since 2006 she specialized in the high jump. In this discipline she gained several medals, for instance at the EC 2006, the EC Indoor 2007 and the WC 2008, where she entered the pentathlon. She holds the Belgian record in high jump in- and outdoor and in long jump, pentathlon and heptathlon.  She decided to stop at the end of 2008, because of her pregnancy. She announced her come back in February 2010.

 

Christophe Impens is a former Belgian athlete, who was specialized in middle long distances. In 1997 he broke the 20 year old record of Ivo Van Damme on 1500m. He gained a silver medal at the EC 1996, and won eleven national titles. After his sports career he started as Quality Assurance Manager at DHL, and from 1999 till 2001 he was E-business & Quality Manager at Xircom EMEA. At the moment Christophe Impens is Managing Director of Golazo Sports, the main company of the sports and entertainment group Golazo Sports-Media-Entertainment of Bob Verbeeck. In this function he is responsible for top events such as KBC Nacht van de Atletiek, Flanders Indoor Gent, Antwerp 10 Miles, GvA Trofee Veldrijden, Ronde van België, etc.

 

Both keynote speakers will explain how an athlete prepares himself for high achievements. How such a project is planned and supported by a multidisciplinary team. How each step is carefully prepared and executed, building up towards the final goal. Next to this personal program you will also learn about the logistical organization of large sports events, with all pitfalls and obstacles that have to be taken.
